Taiwan celebrates National Day with fireworks and drone shows

Taiwan celebrated National Day with major fireworks and drone displays in Taipei and Taitung.

In Taipei, Taipei 101 hosted a 14-minute technological art performance themed ‘Onward Taiwan.’ The show utilized 600 drones to create various patterns, including a hotpot imagery that sparked social media discussion. Taipei 101 Chairperson Chia Yung-chieh clarified that the hotpot design was a creative concept intended to represent freedom of choice and diversity, rather than a political reference.

In Taitung, the celebration featured a massive fireworks display at the Beinan River estuary, utilizing approximately 15,100 to 19,000 shells. The event, themed ‘The World’s Ark: Austronesian Taiwan,’ highlighted indigenous culture and included an orchestral score by singer ABAO. Following the fireworks, a ‘Nan Island Party’ was held at Taitung Coastal Park, featuring performances by various artists including 911, Shen Wen-cheng, and local officials to celebrate the national holiday.
