Taiwan Health Coin program to begin point accumulation in October
Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare is launching the ‘Health Coin’ program, which allows citizens to accumulate points through healthy behaviors. The program officially begins accumulating points on October 1, with the redemption phase scheduled to open on December 1.
Participants aged 18 and older with National Health Insurance coverage can earn points by completing tasks such as cancer screenings, B and C hepatitis screenings, adult preventive healthcare, and vaccinations. Points can be earned through the Health Wallet platform, with a maximum potential accumulation of 13,150 points. Once a user reaches 1,000 points, they can redeem them for health-related products or services, with 1 point roughly equivalent to 1 NTD.
The first phase of the program targets five major sectors for redemption: convenience stores, pharmacies, hospitals/preventive healthcare services, fitness venues, and life insurance companies. Nearly 100 enterprises have already expressed interest during recent recruitment briefings. To ensure the program aligns with health promotion goals, all products and services offered by participating vendors must undergo review by an expert committee before being announced to the public.
