Taiwan hosts major esports festivals in Taichung and Kaohsiung
Major esports events are being held across Taiwan, highlighting the growth of the competitive gaming industry. In Taichung, the 2026 Taichung Esports Carnival featured a high-profile League of Legends exhibition match between legendary players from Team Flash and AHQ. The event, held at the Taichung City Hall, included competitions in Street Fighter 6 and Valorant, alongside lectures on esports. Local officials noted that funding for esports competitions in the city has increased from 4 million to 30 million TWD.
Simultaneously, the tenth anniversary of the ‘Six Cities Esports’ tournament took place in Kaohsiung. The event featured various titles, including League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and Valorant. In the Teamfight Tactics category, the team ‘JPK’ secured the championship, receiving a 60,000 TWD prize from Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai. The tournament aims to foster talent and integrate esports with cultural and creative industries to expand the sector's influence.
