Taiwan labor agency expands flexible work programs for women and older workers
Taiwan's Ministry of Labor, through the Labor Development Agency, has rolled out a series of flexible‑work initiatives aimed at helping women and older employees re‑enter the labor market. The agency’s Central‑South‑East branch reports that from 2024 to June 2025 it assisted 13,600 women in returning to work, partnering with nearly 300 firms to create thousands of flexible‑hour positions. Eligible women can receive up to NT$60,000 in re‑employment bonuses, while employers may claim up to NT$5,000 per month per qualified female employee for up to a year.
In a related effort, the agency’s Taoyuan‑Hsinchu‑Miaoli branch will hold a briefing on August 11 to demonstrate job‑design techniques for improving work methods and conditions, especially for mid‑career and senior workers. The event will feature case studies from local companies and explain that participants can receive up to NT$100,000 per person annually for workplace adjustments, flexible hours, location changes, automation upgrades and other supportive measures.
