Taiwan launches Health Coin program to reward preventive care
Taiwan's Health Promotion Administration is launching the ‘Health Coin’ program on October 1 to incentivize preventive healthcare. Available to citizens aged 18 and older, the program allows individuals to accumulate coins by completing health tasks such as B and C hepatitis screenings, public cancer screenings, and vaccinations.
Participants can earn varying amounts of coins depending on the service; for example, cancer screenings for breast, oral, and lung cancer offer up to 1,000 coins, while colonoscopy screenings can earn up to 1,350 coins. Vaccinations for influenza, COVID-19, and pneumococcus also qualify. Once a user accumulates 1,000 coins, they can redeem them for health-related goods and services starting December 1 via the ‘Health GO’ app. Redemption options include products from convenience stores, medical equipment from pharmacies, and membership discounts at fitness centers.
Fitness brand Curves has joined the initiative as a partner, offering its nearly 140 locations across Taiwan as redemption sites to encourage regular exercise and community health engagement.
