Taiwan launches Health Token program for preventive care
Taiwan's National Health Administration has launched the ‘Health Token’ initiative to encourage preventive healthcare habits among citizens. Starting October 1, 2025, individuals aged 18 and older holding a Taiwan Health Insurance Card can accumulate tokens by completing specific health actions.
Eligible activities include adult preventive healthcare, B and C hepatitis screenings, government-funded cancer screenings (including breast, oral, lung, colorectal, and cervical cancer), vaccinations, and lifestyle assessments. For example, cancer screenings can earn between 900 and 1,000 tokens, while certain vaccinations like COVID-19 or influenza provide varying amounts.
Tokens can be redeemed starting December 1, 2025, via the ‘Health GO’ app. One token is equivalent to one NTD, and tokens are valid for two years from the date of acquisition. The redemption program will initially include partnerships with convenience stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, medical institutions, and fitness centers.
In Kinmen County, the local Health Bureau is coordinating mobile screening services for breast and cervical cancer throughout October to facilitate easier access for residents.
