Taiwan launches Traffic Safety Month with motorcycle inspections and lottery

Taiwan's Ministry of Transportation and Communications has launched the 2026 Traffic Safety Month, beginning September 1, with a primary focus on motorcycle safety and promoting a culture of yielding at intersections.

To support motorcycle safety, the Highway Bureau has partnered with approximately 7,000 motorcycle dealers to establish ‘Motorcycle Safety Protection Stations.’ From September to December, these stations will offer free safety inspections covering tires, lights, brakes, and lubricants.

Additionally, a ‘Zero Violation Lottery’ has been introduced to encourage safe driving habits. Eligible participants—defined as Republic of China citizens with valid motorcycle licenses and registered vehicles who maintain a clean driving record for both cars and motorcycles during the campaign period—can win prizes valued at over NT$2 million. Prizes include motorcycles, iPhones, and smartwatches. The lottery features two phases: early bird registration ends September 15, while general registration continues through September 30.
