Taiwan police assist elderly citizens facing disorientation and health issues

Police departments across Taiwan have been actively assisting elderly citizens facing disorientation, health issues, or memory loss.

In Taipei, officers from the Datong District assisted a 72-year-old woman who became lost and exhausted while searching for work. After finding her, police provided her with a vegetarian meal and water before contacting her family.

In Yunlin, officers in Douliu identified a man exhibiting anxious and wandering behavior. After verifying his identity, they successfully reunited him with his friends. Similarly, in Chiayi, police in Beimen assisted a man with mild dementia who had become lost while riding his scooter, eventually returning him to his family.

In Chiayi City, officers provided additional support to a woman suffering from a severe cold who collapsed due to dizziness, escorting her home to ensure her safety. In a separate incident, police assisted an 80-year-old woman who mistakenly reported a stolen scooter; after checking vehicle tracking data, officers discovered the scooter was still at her residence, as she had actually walked to the park.

Local authorities are using these incidents to urge the public to monitor the well-being of elderly relatives and to call 110 if they encounter individuals in distress.
