Taiwan rail operators open ticket sales for National Day holiday

Taiwan's major rail operators have opened ticket sales for the upcoming National Day holiday period, spanning October 8 to October 12.

Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) has announced 88 additional train services to accommodate travelers, totaling 913 services over the five-day period. Ticket sales for these services commenced on September 10. THSR will deploy varying numbers of non-reserved carriages and has increased staffing at stations to assist passengers. To manage crowds, THSR is collaborating with LINE TODAY to provide estimated waiting times for non-reserved seats via digital platforms.

Taiwan Railways (TRA) also opened bookings for the holiday period via web, mobile app, telephone, and convenience stores. As of the morning of September 10, TRA reported over 83,000 tickets sold across more than 50,000 transactions. Unclaimed tickets are scheduled to be released back into the system on September 10 at 9:00 AM. Additionally, TRA will open bookings for specific name-based services on October 8, 9, and 11, which are prioritized for residents of Hualien and Taitung counties.
