Taiwan Railway to add 158 trains for holiday period

Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) will add 158 train services to accommodate passenger demand during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and Teachers' Day long weekend. The additional services will run for six days, from September 24 to September 29.

The extra services include 6 real-name registration trains on the East Line, 10 North Ring cross-line Tze-Chiang Limited Express trains, 10 South Ring cross-line Tze-Chiang Limited Express trains, and 4 direct trains between the North and Central regions on the West Line.

To improve passenger flow, TRA will temporarily suspend the sale of family car tickets, replacing them with general car tickets. Additionally, on the West Line, EMU3000 trains will suspend standing-room services; instead, a limited number of 200 standing tickets will be sold on the day of travel, with access to the Car 6 Tengyun cabin prohibited.

Ticket sales for these additional services begin at midnight on August 25 via the internet, the TRA e-booking app, convenience stores, and telephone. For the East Line real-name registration trains, booking opens at midnight on August 26 specifically for residents of Hualien and Taitung counties with specific ID prefixes (U or V) and their immediate family members.
