Taiwan weather: Two waves of northeasterly monsoon to bring rain and cooler temperatures
The Central Weather Administration (CWA) has forecast two successive waves of the northeasterly monsoon to impact Taiwan. The first wave is currently bringing increased moisture, with rain expected in northern Taiwan, the eastern regions, and the Hengchun Peninsula. While weather is expected to improve mid-week as the winds weaken, a second, stronger surge is projected to arrive on Friday.
This second wave is expected to bring more significant moisture and cooler temperatures, with daytime highs in northern and northeastern Taiwan potentially dropping to 23 degrees Celsius. Residents are advised to prepare for localized heavy rainfall in eastern areas and potential long waves along the coasts of Keelung, the eastern coast, and the Hengchun Peninsula.
Typhoon In-Fa is currently far from Taiwan and is not expected to have a direct impact on the island's weather.
