Taiwan weather forecast: Two waves of northeast monsoon expected

Following the departure of Typhoon Prapiroon, Taiwan's weather is expected to stabilize with two waves of the northeast monsoon affecting different regions throughout the week.

Between October 27 and 28, the first monsoon wave will strengthen, bringing higher precipitation chances to areas north of Taoyuan, the eastern half of the island, and the Hengchun Peninsula. During this period, temperatures in northern and northeastern Taiwan are expected to drop to approximately 25–27°C, while central and southern regions will remain mostly cloudy to sunny with daytime highs between 30–32°C.

From October 29 to 30, the monsoon will weaken, leading to rising temperatures and clearer skies across most of the island, except for the northern coast of Keelung and the eastern coast where brief showers may occur. A second, weaker monsoon wave is projected to arrive around October 31, potentially bringing rain to northern Taiwan and the eastern coast before weakening again on November 1.

Regarding Typhoon Yagi (referred to as the 30th typhoon in local reports), it remains over 4,700 kilometers away from Taiwan and is not expected to impact the island's weather in the immediate week. Authorities have also issued warnings for coastal areas regarding high tides and potential flooding in low-lying regions between October 26 and 30.
