Taiwan weather: Heatwave alerts issued as typhoon formation looms
Taiwan is experiencing intense heat, with the Central Weather Administration issuing orange alerts for Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Yunlin, Tainan, and Pingtung. Temperatures in northern areas are expected to reach between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius.
A shift in weather is anticipated as a northeast monsoon strengthens on Thursday night, bringing increased rain to northern and northeastern regions and lowering temperatures to approximately 30 degrees Celsius by Friday.
Meteorologist Jia Xinxing also noted that a tropical disturbance could develop into Typhoon Caiyun as early as October 1. Looking further ahead, a stronger northeast monsoon is forecasted to bring a significant temperature drop between October 5 and October 10.
