Taiwanese hospitals launch smart healthcare and palliative care initiatives

Major medical institutions in Taiwan are implementing advanced digital and clinical initiatives to address aging populations and rising healthcare demands.

National Taiwan University Hospital has partnered with Bayer to establish an Asia-Pacific demonstration center for smart CT contrast agent administration. This collaboration focuses on intelligent injection processes, data integration, and personalized strategies based on patient physical condition to improve efficiency and safety while reducing medical waste.

Additionally, National Taiwan University Hospital has launched the Asia-Pacific’s first Palliative Care Research and Clinical Education and Training Center. This center aims to integrate clinical care, medical research, and international cooperation to support end-of-life care and professional training.

Taipei Hospital has established a Digital Integration Center (DIC) to serve as a hospital ‘smart brain’. The center integrates information systems, real-time operational data, and AI technology to streamline decision-making. Key features include a patient medical history platform and generative AI tools that allow administrators to query hospital metrics using natural language, enhancing resource allocation and patient safety.
