Taiwanese healthcare service and technology expansion

Medical institutions in Taiwan are expanding community-based services and integrating advanced technologies to address aging populations and healthcare demands.

Initial efforts focused on community-oriented and compassionate care. Taichung Tzu Chi Hospital established a “green long-term care” network by refurbishing donated assistive devices for low-income patients, utilizing digital platforms to link hospitals with homes. Simultaneously, Taichung Veterans General Hospital’s Puli branch marked a decade of providing whole-person palliative care through community-supported initiatives.

Developments have since shifted toward high-tech and research-driven solutions. National Taiwan University Hospital has introduced smart CT contrast agent administration in partnership with Bayer and launched the Asia-Pacific’s first Palliative Care Research and Clinical Education and Training Center. Furthermore, Taipei Hospital has implemented a Digital Integration Center that utilizes AI and real-time data to serve as a “smart brain” for hospital administration and patient safety.
