Taiwanese local authorities launch vaccine incentive programs

Local governments in Taiwan are launching initiatives to encourage influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations for the autumn and winter respiratory virus season.

In Kinmen County, the Health Bureau has announced a lucky draw running from October 1 to December 31, 2025. Eligible residents who receive vaccinations at contracted medical institutions can win household appliances, such as televisions, dryers, and microwaves, or convenience store gift cards. The campaign is divided into two drawing phases to reward those who complete their vaccinations early.

In Hualien County, officials have introduced upgraded vaccine options, including high-dose influenza vaccines for seniors and XFG COVID-19 vaccines designed to reduce side effects. Hualien is also implementing a “Health Coin” system via the ‘Health GO’ app, where residents earn digital credits for receiving vaccinations that can be redeemed for health-related products. The county is also conducting school-based mass vaccination programs to prevent cluster infections among students.
