Taiz: Houthi attacks kill and injure dozens in residential areas

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms has documented 109 violations committed by Houthi forces in the Taiz governorate over a 48-hour period. These attacks included indiscriminate shelling, sniping, and the use of ballistic missiles, mortars, Katyusha rockets, and drones.

The violence resulted in the deaths of at least eight civilians, including three women and three children, and left 26 others injured, including seven women and four children. The report also noted the kidnapping of 24 individuals and the raiding of approximately 23 homes, with 17 houses sustaining partial or total damage.

Humanitarian concerns were heightened by the targeting of medical personnel; an ambulance was struck by artillery in the Sabr area, killing the driver and injuring a doctor. Additionally, Houthi forces reportedly occupied religious sites, including a Quranic memorization center in the Al-Nour Mosque, and converted several mosques into military rest areas.

In response to the escalating violence, the Yemeni military reported conducting 780 targeted operations against Houthi positions within a 24-hour window, claiming to have neutralized 512 personnel and destroyed over 330 military vehicles.
