Taiz Governor addresses service and food shortages amid ongoing siege

Nabil Shamsan, the Governor of Taiz and head of the Emergency Committee, chaired a meeting to discuss the deteriorating service, food, and health conditions in the province. The discussions focused on the impact of the ongoing siege and shelling by Houthi forces.

Governor Shamsan emphasized efforts to provide essential services and coordinate with the International Committee of the Red Cross to deliver medicines and medical solutions to local hospitals. He also directed the Siege Affairs Office to document violations against civilians and coordinate with planning and social affairs offices to provide urgent relief to displaced persons and the poorest families, particularly following the departure of several humanitarian organizations due to continuous shelling.

Local officials noted that rising food prices are linked to the emergence of a black market caused by the blockage of approved goods via the Aden–Al-Turba route. Health officials reported on the urgent need for medicines and fuel, while confirming the completion of a comprehensive sanitation campaign in the city.
