Tajikistan marks 35th independence with energy and infrastructure goals

Marking Tajikistan’s 35th anniversary of state independence, President Emomali Rahmon reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to a peaceful, “open-door” foreign policy. Rahmon noted that Tajikistan currently maintains diplomatic relations with 186 countries and actively participates in international organizations to address global challenges such as climate change and security.

On the domestic front, the President announced that Tajikistan is on track to achieve energy independence by 2027. This progress is supported by significant investments in hydropower and renewable energy, including the construction of 300 power plants and the modernization of existing facilities like the Nurek Hydropower Plant. The country is also expanding its solar capacity with new plants scheduled in the Asht and Jaih districts.

Additionally, President Rahmon commissioned 15 new infrastructure facilities across the Rasht, Nurobod, Sangvor, Lakhsh, and Tojikobod districts. These projects include educational institutions, security and justice centers, and community buildings, part of a large-scale development program tied to the independence celebrations.
