Tajikistan expands apricot production and dried-fruit exports

Tajikistan is increasing its role as a significant producer and exporter of dried fruits in Central Asia, specifically through its dried apricot industry. The country utilizes established production and processing infrastructure to convert fresh fruit into dried products for both domestic use and international export.

Major apricot cultivation occurs in northern regions, including Isfara, Konibodom, Khujand, Ayni, and Asht. Tajikistan cultivates approximately 200 varieties of apricots, many of which have been shared with neighboring countries for orchard development. The industry utilizes both traditional sunlight drying methods and industrial sulfur-based treatments to manage color and shelf life.
