TakeMe2Space PowerBank‑50 Achieves India's First Flight‑Proven Satellite Battery

On 18 July 2026, Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram‑1, the first privately developed Indian rocket to reach orbit, carried the PowerBank‑50 battery from Hyderabad‑based startup TakeMe2Space. The 50 Wh, 380‑gram lithium‑ion pack powered Cosmoserve Space’s experimental payload on the Orbital Adjustment Module at an altitude of about 450 km, operating successfully through launch stresses and the space environment.

The flight gave the PowerBank‑50 its first flight‑heritage certification, making it India’s first indigenously developed satellite battery to earn space‑proven status. The achievement, hailed by TakeMe2Space founder Ronak Kumar Samantray and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as a “brilliant” step toward reducing dependence on costly imports, is expected to lower costs for Indian CubeSat and microsatellite developers and boost the domestic small‑satellite ecosystem.
