TakeMe2Space's PowerBank-50 Satellite Battery Gains Flight Heritage on India's Vikram-1 Launch
TakeMe2Space's PowerBank-50 satellite battery became the first indigenously developed, commercially available battery in India to achieve flight heritage. The unit successfully operated aboard Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram-1 mission, which launched on 18 July 2026 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
The battery stores more than 50 Wh of energy, weighs about 380 g, and incorporates high‑energy‑density lithium‑ion cells, an intelligent battery‑management system, cell heaters and an aluminium flight enclosure. It can power CubeSats to microsatellites, offers up to five years of low‑Earth‑orbit life, and is now sold off‑the‑shelf for INR 1,04,900.
Founder and CEO Ronak Kumar Samantray said the flight validates the product and reduces reliance on imported satellite batteries, strengthening India's private space‑manufacturing ecosystem.
