Taliban moral police arrest women in Kabul
The Taliban's moral police conducted a series of operations in Kabul over the weekend, resulting in the detention of between eight and 20 women and girls. The arrests took place on Saturday evening in the Taymani residential neighborhood in northern Kabul.
Social media footage shows Taliban officials from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice using physical force to compel women into unmarked white vans. In one video, women are seen resisting as they are forcibly pushed into a vehicle. Witnesses reported that the crackdown was particularly brutal, with one account noting that a pregnant woman was among those detained while her husband pleaded with officials not to harm her.
These actions follow the recent adoption of strict morality laws by the regime, which include prohibitions on women's voices being heard in public. Local reports suggest the use of unmarked white vehicles is a standard method used by the ministry to conduct such detentions.
