Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival announces 30th edition selections
The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) has announced the film selections for its 30th edition, scheduled to take place in Estonia from November 6 to 22. The announcement includes the Baltic Film Competition, Critics’ Picks, and Rebels with a Cause sections.
The Baltic Film Competition will feature 12 films from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, including several international co-productions. The selection covers diverse genres such as political drama, comedy, film noir, and science fiction. Curator Edvinas Pukšta noted that several films in this section express support for Ukraine. The winner of the Best Baltic Feature Film award will receive a €5,000 grant.
The Critics’ Picks section, curated by Nikolaj Nikitin, will present ten world premieres ranging from genre cinema to formal experimentation. Additionally, the Rebels with a Cause section will showcase nine films. The festival aims to highlight the growing contribution of Baltic filmmakers to international cinema through its Focus: Baltics initiative.
