Talíria Petrone seeks protection after repeated death threats

Brazilian Federal Deputy Talíria Petrone (PSOL-RJ) has requested urgent intervention from Minister of Justice Wellington Lima e Silva following a series of death threats against her and her family. This marks the fourth instance of such threats in recent months.

Petrone reported that the messages include racist abuse, sexual violence, and the disclosure of personal information and home addresses. The deputy criticized the perceived inertia of investigations despite having filed 15 reports with the Federal Police. She stated that the lack of institutional response represents a failure in public security and highlights the impact of political violence rooted in race and gender.
