Tamaulipas authorities launch operations to reclaim public parking spaces

Authorities in Tamaulipas have launched operations to reclaim public spaces being illegally occupied by private citizens to reserve parking spots.

In Cd. Victoria, the Directorate of Security, Traffic, and Roadways began a preventive operation in the city's central district. Officials are inspecting and removing objects such as pots and bins used to block street spaces. Director Livio César Flores Rodríguez stated that the initial phase focuses on warnings and admonishments to avoid immediate fines, though continued obstruction will lead to the removal of objects and legal infractions.

Similarly, in Tampico, the Traffic and Roadways Directorate, in coordination with the State Guard, has implemented a permanent operation in the Historic Center. This measure follows complaints from merchants and citizens regarding the use of boxes, buckets, chairs, and pallets to reserve parking spaces, particularly near market areas. The initiative aims to improve vehicular mobility and discourage unauthorized parking attendants, known locally as ‘viene viene’.
