Tamaulipas beaches draw 672,000 tourists, spurring 618 million‑peso economic boost
During the current vacation period, the six principal beaches of Tamaulipas attracted more than 672,000 visitors, generating an economic impact exceeding 618 million pesos. State tourism secretary Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez highlighted the region’s natural beauty, safety, affordable prices and hospitality, noting that the influx benefits families and travelers of all budgets.
Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya is promoting higher quality standards, certification and professionalisation for tourism service providers across the state. Among the highlighted destinations are Playa Miramar in Ciudad Madero, a Blue Flag beach with fine sand and family‑friendly water sports, and Playa La Pesca in Soto la Marina, known for sport fishing, bird‑watching and turtle‑release programs. Other beaches such as Bagdad, Barra del Tordo, Tesoro and La Carbonera were also cited for their ecological and recreational appeal.
