Tamaulipas enables ownership transfers for nationalized vehicles

The Secretary of Finance for Tamaulipas, Carlos Irán Ramírez González, has announced that vehicles nationalized under a previous decree can now undergo ownership transfers. This allows owners of legalized vehicles with Tamaulipas plates to sell their units legally through state fiscal offices.

To complete the process, both the buyer and the seller must present official identification (INE) and ensure there are no outstanding debts on the vehicle. The procedure requires paying the corresponding fees for both the deregistration (baja) of the seller and the registration (alta) of the new owner. Officials estimate that approximately 250,000 vehicles may fall under this category based on the decree's period of validity.
