Mexicali faces over 50°C heat as Baja California issues warnings
The National Meteorological Service predicts that Mexicali will exceed 51 °C on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August 2026, with wind gusts of 50‑70 km/h affecting the municipalities of Mexicali, San Felipe and San Quintín. In Reynosa, officials warned of maximum temperatures of 38‑41 °C with heat‑index values above 45 °C, while in Chihuahua the heat wave is expected to keep daytime highs near 41 °C in Juárez and surrounding towns. Across Baja California, 88 extreme‑temperature cases have been recorded this season, including 34 heat‑stroke incidents, though none have been reported in Tijuana.
