Tamaulipas teachers participate in consultation to replace USICAMM

The Unit for the System for the Career of Teachers and Professors (USICAMM) is set to be abolished. In Tamaulipas, approximately 55,000 teachers are participating in a consultation to help define the replacement system.

This state-level consultation is part of a broader national effort involving roughly one million teachers across Mexico. The goal is to collect feedback to establish new rules for teacher entry, promotion, and professional development.

The SNTE Section 30 union supports the removal of the current mechanism. General Secretary Arnulfo Rodríguez Treviño stated that teachers do not wish for USICAMM to remain in effect. The union is advocating for a more transparent and fair system that considers seniority and aligns teacher placements with the actual needs of schools and municipalities.
