Tamaulipas education sector staffing and reform

In Tamaulipas, educational authorities and labor unions are managing staffing and systemic reforms within the state's school system.

To prepare for the upcoming school year starting August 31, the Tamaulipas Ministry of Education (SET) announced plans to regularize 1,100 education workers, including teachers, administrative staff, supervisors, and directors. This initiative follows the recent delivery of approximately 500 appointments and is being coordinated with Section 30 of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE).

Simultaneously, approximately 55,000 teachers in the state are participating in a consultation regarding the potential abolition of the Unit for the System for the Career of Teachers and Professors (USICAMM). This state-level effort is part of a national movement involving roughly one million teachers to establish a new system for teacher entry, promotion, and professional development. The SNTE Section 30 union is advocating for a replacement that emphasizes transparency, seniority, and alignment with local school needs.
