Tamaulipas tourism draws over 590,000 visitors, boosting local economy

The state of Tamaulipas recorded more than 590,000 tourists during the current vacation period, surpassing the 473,000 visitors registered in 2025. State tourism secretary Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez said the influx generated an economic spillover exceeding 500 million pesos. The most‑visited destination was Ciudad Madero’s Playa Miramar with over 323,000 guests, followed by the port of Tampico and the city of Nuevo Laredo.

At the same time, the Zoológico Tamatán opened registration for its CurZoo de Verano 2026 program, aimed at children aged 6‑12. The week‑long courses run from 3–7 August and 10–14 August, cost 850 pesos per participant, and focus on environmental education through workshops, games and crafts. Registration is limited and must be completed in person at the zoo’s souvenir shop.
