Tamaulipas youth see surge in university exchanges and launch of free vocational platform

Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT), Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, reported that student participation in academic mobility programmes has risen sharply, increasing from about 80 participants two years ago to more than 600 today. He highlighted the Institutional Research Stay Program (Delfín), which involves 354 students, and noted exchanges such as the Disney Cultural Exchange Program that sent ten students to Orlando, Florida. Anaya said, “Cada vez más jóvenes aprovechan las oportunidades de intercambio para enriquecer su formación mediante estancias nacionales y extranjeras.”

The Instituto de la Juventud de Tamaulipas (INJUVE), in partnership with Santander Open Academy, has launched the free digital vocational‑orientation course “VocaAcción 2026”. The platform, open to high‑school students until 16 August, offers interactive assessments across 17 vocational areas and generates personalized reports covering 103 university careers. Director Oscar Azael Rodríguez Perales described it as “no es un típico test aburrido y tradicional” and called the final report “una guía invaluable” for students planning their future education and employment.

Both initiatives align with state government policies aimed at expanding educational opportunities and improving youth employability in Tamaulipas.
