Tamil Nadu attracts major solar and EV manufacturing investments

Tamil Nadu is seeing significant industrial investment in the renewable energy and electric vehicle sectors. Vikram Solar has inaugurated a 6-gigawatt solar module manufacturing plant in Tirunelveli. The facility, which was virtually inaugurated by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, is expected to create over 800 skilled jobs. The company also aims to establish 9 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity by fiscal year 2027.

In a separate development, clean-tech firm Plugzmart signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tamil Nadu government to invest Rs 100 crore. This investment is intended to expand electric vehicle charger manufacturing and research and development capabilities at the company’s facility in Oragadam, Vallam. The expansion is projected to create more than 500 high-skilled jobs in fields such as hardware engineering and power electronics over the next three years.
