Tamil Nadu braces for heavy rains across 15+ districts
The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a bulletin forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40‑50 km/h in more than 15 districts of Tamil Nadu from June 11 through June 14. The affected districts include Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Theni, Dindigul, Cuddalore and Mayiladuthurai.
Recent observations recorded up to 11 cm of rain in Oothu (Tirunelveli) and 9 cm at Vint Worth Estate (Nilgiris). Temperatures are expected to fall gradually across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, while Chennai will remain hot and humid, having reached a high of 40.7 °C on Wednesday.
