By August 21, a wet spell was forecast to last through August 27, driven by a cyclonic circulation over the Chhattisgarh-north Odisha region. As of August 24, the Chennai Meteorological Centre predicted rain across several parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, with heavy rain and winds of 40-50 kmph expected in hilly areas of Coimbatore and the Nilgiris. By August 27, the India Meteorological Department predicted light to moderate rainfall across seven districts, though northern inland temperatures were expected to rise by up to 3 degrees Celsius through August 30. In early September, weather patterns remained unsettled. By September 5, the Regional Meteorological Centre forecasted light to moderate rain and thunderstorms across various parts of the state, including the Western Ghats and southern districts such as Madurai, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, and Virudhunagar. This activity was attributed to a cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal and a low-pressure area extending from south interior Karnataka through Tamil Nadu to the Gulf of Mannar.
