Tamil Nadu Chief Minister announces age relaxation for TNPSC exams
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has announced a five-year age relaxation for candidates appearing for Group 1, 2, and 4 examinations conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC). The decision, which takes effect immediately and remains in force until October 2031, aims to provide more opportunities for graduates seeking government jobs.
For Group 1 examinations, the upper age limit for General category candidates has increased from 32 to 37 years. For candidates from BC, MBC, SC, and ST communities, the limit has been raised from 37 to 42 years. This relaxation is in addition to existing age concessions for reserved categories. The move addresses long-standing demands from aspirants following previous government decisions that froze new appointments between 2001 and 2006.
