Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay concludes Delhi trip, returns to Chennai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay completed his first official visit to New Delhi, meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The two‑day trip focused on administrative and development issues, including concerns over Karnataka’s proposed Mekedatu balancing reservoir on the Cauvery River, the detention of Tamil fishermen by the Sri Lankan navy, and a controversy surrounding the presentation of the Tamil Thai Vazhthu at his swearing‑in ceremony. Vijay also submitted a detailed memorandum to the finance minister requesting priority funding for ports, highways, railway expansion and industrial corridors in the state. A planned meeting with Congress leaders Rahul and Sonia Gandhi was postponed, with a possible future encounter mentioned for early June. In a separate statement, Vijay expressed condolences on the death of actor Ajit Kumar’s mother, joining other regional politicians in offering sympathy to the bereaved family.
