Tamil Nadu CM C. Joseph Vijay holds thanksgiving rally in Tiruchirappalli
On June 1 2026, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay visited Tiruchirappalli for his first official rally since taking office on May 10. Arriving by chartered flight from Chennai, he travelled in a police‑escorted van to St Joseph’s College, where he addressed a thanksgiving public meeting to thank voters from the Tiruchirappalli East constituency, which he had vacated after retaining the Perambur seat.
The event was tightly controlled: attendance was capped at about 5,000 people with QR‑code entry passes, and passes were not issued to pregnant women, children, seniors, the differently‑abled or anyone with health concerns. Police imposed traffic diversions and extensive security measures around the Chathiram Bus Stand area. The rally followed a roadshow in which Vijay was greeted with a police salute and chants of “Vijay” from supporters.
The gathering is part of a broader party initiative for all TVK MLAs to visit their constituencies and thank voters after the party’s decisive victory in the April 23 Assembly elections.
