Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Vijay to attend Niti Aayog meeting in Delhi
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will travel to New Delhi on 11 June to take part in the Niti Aayog Governing Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The agenda is expected to focus on governance and development issues, with the CM likely to raise funding and support for state infrastructure, welfare schemes and pending central‑government allocations.
At the same time, the ruling Tamil Ga Vetri Katchi (TVK) has absorbed four former AIADMK ministers – K. Radhakrishnan, M.C. Sampath, C. Raju and N.R. Shivapathi – following the party’s poor performance in the recent assembly election. Their defection, together with earlier waves of AIADMK members joining TVK, underscores a significant political realignment in the state after the election loss and the subsequent support of the BJP‑led alliance by some AIADMK legislators.
These developments highlight both the state's engagement with central policy forums and a shifting balance of power among Tamil Nadu’s major parties.
