Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay visits Kollur Mookambika Temple, donates silver sword
On 12 June 2026, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay travelled from New Delhi to Mangaluru International Airport and proceeded by road to the Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur, Karnataka. He offered prayers, spent about 20 minutes in the shrine and presented a 1.6 kg silver sword as an offering to the deity. The visit was secured by coordinated teams from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka police, with around 40 Tamil Nadu officers and local forces deployed along the 125 km route and at the temple. Hundreds of supporters gathered along the way, chanting the chief minister’s name. The trip continues a tradition of former Tamil Nadu leaders visiting the shrine, and security was heightened amid concerns over protests linked to the disputed Mekedatu project.
