Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s Karur trip disrupted by suspicious truck, police launch investigation
Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Vijay, arrived at Tiruchirappalli airport by private aircraft and proceeded by road toward Karur. On the Tiruchirappalli‑Karur highway, a cargo truck stopped in a manner that raised security concerns. Police attempted to move the vehicle with a crane but were unable due to its weight, then subjected it to metal‑detector and other checks, erected barriers around it and deployed additional security personnel.
Investigators traced the truck to a company in Uttar Pradesh and noted its registration (MH‑04‑MR‑719) from Maharashtra. The driver had abandoned the vehicle after it entered the bypass. Following the incident, police intensified patrols along the route and continued a detailed inquiry into the truck’s presence.
The episode prompted heightened vigilance during the chief minister’s travel, but no further disruptions were reported.
