Tamil Nadu CM C. Joseph Vijay presses for state‑quota medical admissions at NITI Aayog meeting

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay travelled to New Delhi to attend the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the meeting he urged the Union government to allow Tamil Nadu to fill all state‑quota seats in MBBS, BDS and AYUSH courses solely on the basis of Class 12 marks, reiterating the state's opposition to the NEET entrance test.

Vijay also used the forum to request central support for creating world‑class start‑up incubators, a venture‑capital ecosystem for deep‑tech enterprises, increased funding for applied research, and a special fund to strengthen urban infrastructure in major Indian cities. Prior to the meeting he met President Droupadi Murmu, Vice‑President C. P. Radhakrishnan, as well as leaders of the Congress and CPI parties.

On the same trip the chief minister paid his final respects to veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja, who had died the previous day, and announced that the state would confer honours on the Padma Shri‑awardee for his contributions to Tamil cinema.
