Tamil Nadu CM C. Vijay in Delhi for Yojana summit, fire at state house

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Vijay travelled from Chennai to Delhi on a private aircraft on 10 June 2026 to attend the Finance Yojana council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In Delhi he was received at the Tamil Nadu House by senior state officials, paid respects to the President and Vice‑President, and met senior central leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress figures Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. Vijay is expected to seek additional allocations for Tamil Nadu infrastructure projects, including road, rail and industrial corridors, and to raise concerns over the Mekedatu dam proposal in Karnataka and the plight of Tamil fishermen detained by Sri Lankan authorities.

While staying at the Tamil Nadu House, a minor fire broke out in the residence’s restaurant. Security personnel quickly evacuated occupants, contained the blaze and prevented any injuries or significant damage. The incident did not affect Vijay’s participation in the scheduled meetings.
