Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay meets MP on development, eyes Kerala visit

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay met with Trichy MP Durai Vaiko at the chief minister's residence in Chennai. Vaiko submitted a detailed memorandum outlining demands for the Trichy constituency, including the creation of a separate state transport corporation headquartered in Trichy, designation of Trichy as the state's second capital, a three‑corridor metro rail project, a University City, a semiconductor and advanced electronics hub in the Trichy‑Manapparai SIPCOT area, a modern dry‑port, expansion of the Trichy International Airport runway, relocation of Srirangam Government Hospital, a new Mother‑and‑Child Health building in Pudukkottai, a 33/11 kV sub‑station in Thoothukudi, removal of the cotton‑seed cess, and eradication of invasive Prosopis juliflora trees. Vijay listened to the proposals and assured that the demands would be examined and appropriate action taken.

The chief minister also announced plans to visit Kerala, where he will meet IUML leaders Panakkad Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal and P. K. Kunhalikutty. The Kerala visit follows a cordial meeting in Chennai, during which IUML leaders expressed gratitude for the Muslim League's allocation of a ministerial berth in the Tamil Nadu cabinet. Vijay will attend the 131st birth‑anniversary ceremony of Muslim League founder Quaid‑e‑Millat Muhammad Ismail and participate in special prayers at the founder's resting place in Triplicane.
