Tamil Nadu CM Vijay meets PM Modi in Delhi

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Vijay travelled to Delhi on May 27, 2026, for his first official visit to the capital since taking office. He met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Prime Minister’s residence on May 28, where he presented a petition covering the Vande Mataram anthem order, the disputed Mekedatu water‑project, defence‑aerospace initiatives and the arrest of Tamil fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.

During the same trip Vijay also held meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, other senior Union ministers, Vice‑President C.P. Radhakrishnan, and senior Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Security arrangements for the visit were reviewed by officials from the state and central agencies.
