Tamil Nadu CM Vijay visits Tiruchirappalli to thank voters

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, who also serves as president of the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) party, will travel to Tiruchirappalli East on the evening of June 1. The visit is his first since taking the oath of office on May 10 after TVK’s landslide victory in the state election. Vijay resigned his Tiruchirappalli East MLA seat after winning both that constituency and Perambur, triggering a by‑election.

He will arrive by special aircraft around 4 p.m. and is expected to address a large crowd of supporters. Security has been tightened with about 2,000 police deployed along the route and at the venue. Organisers issued QR‑code passes for entry; those without a QR code – including pregnant women, children, school‑age students, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and individuals with health concerns – will not be allowed to enter.

The event reflects the party’s effort to maintain momentum after its decisive win and to thank the electorate that propelled Vijay to the chief‑ministerial post.
