Tamil Nadu Communist Party urges state‑run mineral sales and welcomes senior leader into TVK

Marxist Communist Party state secretary B. Sanmugam told reporters in Chennai that the Tamil Nadu government should raise revenue without burdening citizens, proposing that the state directly mine and sell minerals such as sand, granite and coal to generate “thousands of crore rupees.” He cited the governor’s recent remarks and linked the proposal to broader concerns about crime, drug culture and social welfare.

Separately, senior Communist Party figure Mahendran joined the Tamil Nadu Victory League (TVK) in the presence of TVK general secretary Pusi Anand, highlighting his decades‑long involvement with the party and his recent move into regional political activity.
