Tamil Nadu dengue surge sparks criticism from AIADMK
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has accused the Tamil Nadu government of failing to take decisive action against the rising spread of dengue across the state. He noted that both government and private hospitals are facing significant pressure as beds fill up.
Citing health department data, Palaniswami stated that as of September 21, Tamil Nadu had recorded 17,348 dengue cases and 4,653 cases of scrub typhus. He criticized the government for ignoring warnings from the public and media, and specifically noted the absence of Health Minister Arunraj from a meeting led by the Director of Public Health regarding control measures.
Palaniswami urged the administration to increase medical facilities, ensure adequate supplies of medicine and doctors, and implement rigorous mosquito control through door-to-door inspections and medical camps in every street.
