Tamil Nadu DMK faces probe over alleged MLA resignation inducement

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has asked Tamil Nadu Governor R. V. Arlekar to order a Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) investigation into allegations that senior MDMK leaders, including chief Vaiko, attempted to lure two MDMK legislators to resign and trigger by‑elections. The party claims the scheme involved political bribery and “horse‑trading" that could undermine the elected mandate.

In a related development, Chennai police arrested three individuals – a YouTuber and two local DMK functionaries – accused of trying to induce a Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA to defect. Authorities say cash offers of up to ₹15 crore were made to persuade the MLA to leave his party, prompting further scrutiny of political inducement practices in the state.
